You're already close. From central Lathrop, our clinic in Tracy is about 10 minutes and 8 miles down I-5. In 2025, 897 Lathrop pet owners made that drive — making Lathrop our third-largest customer city, accounting for roughly 7% of all the patients we see. That number has held steady year over year, which tells us something: people come once, save money, and come back.

A cat spay at a standard Lathrop or Manteca-area clinic typically runs $300–$600. At The Pet Advocate, it starts at $105. A dog spay often runs $500–$800 locally. Ours starts at $170. A full dental cleaning at most area practices is $800–$1,500. Ours is $600 flat, and that includes pre-anesthetic bloodwork, full-mouth digital X-rays, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatment. For most Lathrop clients, a single procedure covers the cost of the drive many times over.

The drive from central Lathrop typically takes 8–12 minutes outside of peak commute windows. If you're coming from the Mossdale or River Islands areas, budget a couple of extra minutes. For spay and neuter appointments, we ask that you arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, so plan accordingly even if you're close.

We're not an animal hospital, and we want to be clear about that before you make the drive.
If your pet is sick, injured, limping, not eating, or showing any signs that something is wrong today, please don't come to us first. We're not equipped for emergencies or diagnostic work. For urgent care in the area, Lathrop residents are close to Lathrop-Manteca Veterinary Hospital on South Main Street in Manteca, or you can reach a 24-hour facility in Stockton within 20–25 minutes.
What we do is the planned, preventive work a healthy pet needs: fixing them before they go into heat, cleaning their teeth before infection sets in, keeping vaccinations current. For that category of care, we're the most affordable option in the region. For anything outside that scope, we'll tell you honestly that you need someone else.
